Rose and Thorn Institution Analysis

The name we have chosen for our institution is Rose and Thorn because we thought that this helped to create our own identity in a unique way. Rose links to love and helps to connote all the typical happy connotations of love. By adding Thorn this shows that there isn't always a good story and represents the disruption in the film. Rose and Thorn can also be used to represent other film genres such as horror because the logo isn't just representative of love, but other genres too. We have decided to do the heart in a grey as this isn't a stereotypical romance colour and adds a more Gothic side to the logo. By using gold as the banner, it shows that Rose and Thorn is a top production company as it connotes wealth and success. By having the name in the gold banner it will help the audience to remember the institution and recognise them next time. By using barbed wire wrapped around the heart, it links to the painful side of the logo, which links to the name Thorn. We used barbed wire instead of a thorn because we thought it would appeal more to our audience. It also helps to connote that barbed wire is more painful than a thorn showing that there are many painful side to our films.
