Definatly, Maybe Website Analysis

On the first page of "Definitely, maybe", the title is shown at the top left. This is because in our culture we read from left to right, so it would be the first thing that the viewer would notice. This is shown throughout the rest of the website and the 'maybe' is slightly slanted towards the right, this is so that it focuses our eyes on what else is on the page. The colours scheme or the website is reds and pinks. These connotate love and romance, and that represents the genre of the movie. The main pages of the website are shown at the top and the bottom of every page, and when you click on them hearts appear over the writing. This again enhances the fact that it is a romantic movie. The DVD cover is shown on the left of the page, this is so that the viewer will recognise the DVD cover if the persuasion techniques of the website work. The page also shows a movie trailer, this is to persuade the viewer to watch the movie. The institutions for the website are shown at the bottom of every page and they are in small print and blend in easily. This is because although they are important they do not attract viewers attention as they will be least interested in them. There are also 4 pictures shown of the man with 3 woman and 1 girl, this relates to the cover as we can see they are the same characters but helps us to recognise the male as the main protagonist. We can also recognise that the young girl plays a large part in this movie as she is shown in a lot of the scene and clips that we see. In the background image we see a city shown, this shows the setting for the movie and acts as the establishing shot.
The 2nd page of the website is the quiz page. This opens up in a separate Internet box and we recognise the main protagonist again. The colours in this shot are very pink and girly and the male looks a bit out of place. This is showing that we are more likely to be in the girls room and develops another setting for the movie. From the pose of the characters we can also see that these shots were shots from the movie. The text is shown in the middle and an interactive game helps to attract the viewers attention.
On the third page title "Downloads" a background photo of the male protagonist is shown with a lady. The photos appear on the left as it would be the first thing that we would notice. The photos can be downloaded as wallpapers which once again keeps the interaction with the viewer. The males facial expression looks scared, whereas the woman looks happy, this leads us to question what happens in the movie. We can also see from the background again that the film is set in the city. There is snow on the floor and the actors are wearing coats suggesting that this was shot in winter which contrasts with the DVD cover, which looks like it was set in summer.
The 4th page is the trailer page. We can see that this page is set in the city. As this is an American film, when being viewed by a British audience we would automatically presume that this is set in New York. We see the main protagonist on the left hand side of the page, and he is with another female character it leads us the question what happens in the movie. This is a persuasion technique that entices the viewer. The woman is also holding a bottle of alcohol in her hand. This suggests that the movies target audience wouldnot be aimed at children and more towards teenage audience and above. The trailer is shown on the right of the page, where you get an option of two trailers to watch. This gives the viewer variation.
The 5th page is the film synopsis. This is an important page because it will be the page that persuades the viewer to buy the DVD and keep them enticed. The synopsis is on the right side of the page. The background shown again is in the city, which gives us a understanding of the setting and location for the movie.
The final page is the charactors and actors biography. On this page the text is shown on the left whereas the image is on the right, suggesting that the text for this page is more important than the image. The main protagonist appears first on this page and the continuation of reds occurs on this page.
