Social Networking Sites - Influencing Films

As part of my research i have looked in to how social networking sites may become useful advertising tools for films and production companies. Sites such as Facebook have advertisement banners down the side of the page that usually contain moving images to catch the audiences attention. These advertisements are usually suited to the type of audience using the computer. Due to the eye catching movement, this attracts a large audience and gives the audience a introduction to the advertisement so a sense of recognition can be created when the audience returns to the site. Advertising on social networking sites is very expensive due to the competition from different advertising companies. This means that it is highly unlikely that we shall use the method of social networking sites to advertise our film. However, social networking sites also use another method to create advertising links. Most film websites have a link to websites such as Facebook, which the audience can join and post comments and feedback, giving them the chance to interact with the film. I have therefore ensured that i have created a link to Facebook to help expand the advertisement of the film.
